Challenge

Create an illustration for an article about our city's transit - a scene that will resonate with readers but also grab their attention. 

Solution

To match the satirical tone of the article, I drew inspiration from my own negative experiences on the subway, and exaggerated the article's mention of insects for an eye-catching & charming illustration. 

PROJECT   On A Good Day

Challenge

Illustrate + write a unique art book that’s engaging and relatable to teens and young adults.

Solution

I composed a list of things anyone can do to distract from being sad. Then I illustrated each task using a unique character. Each page also uses a minimal palette, leaving the main illustrations as linework that readers can also feel free to use as a colouring book (for another form of healthy self-soothing).

Challenge

Develop a logo and initial brand identity, that boldly represents the Toronto band, Hive Wife.

 

About: Hive Wife is an alternative, all-female, queer band, exploring the deeply emotional rollercoaster of life’s melancholies and romances.

Solution

I designed an asymmetrical lockup united by smooth curves for a softer appearance. Paired with a loud + high-contrast palette that amplifies Hive Wife’s fiercer side. Powerful, feminine, youthful, and attractive.

Challenge

Create an animated infographic to explain the technically complex and heavy subject of Pension Plans to the average Joe.

Solution

We carefully crafted the world of Rob (our script's main character) to demonstrate key info. Following Rob’s life, his truck, his wife and son (and even his football) while tactfully integrating definitions, charts, and statistics. The result is a light-hearted and accessible animated infographic.

Challenge

Create a playful, family-friendly collection of illustrations for a monster-themed diner (without being scary) for an engaging brand experience.

Solution

I gave life to an assortment of odd characters inspired by monsters from popular movies and mythical tales, intertwined with food motifs (specific to the menu). Using a cohesive and bright palette, these characters were brought into the takeout packaging, menu design, and physical space as a mural.

Challenge

Include the Bud Light beercan and The Longhorns fan's hand-gesture as a graphic tee design for Bud Light's partnership with the University of Texas' football team, The Texas Longhorns.

Solution

Combined, these symbols read as a tongue-in-cheek infographic for cracking open cold ones. The final illustrations appear modern, subtle, and seamlessly integrate the brand identities of both brands.

Challenge

Create an illustrated infographic for agency, Mosaic, that gives employees a simplified breakdown of the steps needed to create good ideas. The design must include an illustration of pizza and still remain professional + live within Mosaic’s existing VBI.

Solution

I illustrated a stylized slice of pizza, in exploded view, to see its layers. Each layer of pizza corresponds with one step of instructions, making an easy-to-follow guide.
